Moroccan healthtech company ABA Life has signed a $40 million investment agreement with pan-African private equity firm Admaius Capital Partners to expand artificial intelligence-driven healthcare, medical technologies and international operations. The proposed financing would bring in a new investor alongside parent company ABA Technology, but remains subject to Morocco’s competition review and customary closing conditions.
Key Overview
- Investment: A $40 million agreement, also reported as approximately MAD400 million, has been signed but not yet completed.
- Regulatory review: Morocco’s Competition Council is accepting public observations on the proposed transaction until November 9, 2026.
- Ownership: A Rwanda-incorporated investment vehicle, Virunga Genesis, would acquire joint control of ABA Life alongside ABA Technology.
- Growth priorities: Funding is intended for clinical AI, healthcare technology deployment and international expansion.
- Business model: ABA Life combines connected medical equipment, telemedicine, care operations and proprietary technology developed in Morocco.
$40 Million Deal Awaits Regulatory Clearance
The investment agreement represents a proposed growth-capital injection into ABA Life, the healthcare arm of Moroccan technology group ABA Technology. The company and its advisers have described the transaction as worth approximately MAD400 million, while other announcements put its value at $40 million.
Details disclosed through the competition review show that Virunga Genesis Ltd, a Rwanda-incorporated vehicle indirectly controlled by a fund advised by Admaius, would subscribe to reserved capital increases at ABA Life. That would give it joint control alongside ABA Technology, which currently owns the business outright.
The regulator’s October 29 notice opened a period for third-party comments ending November 9. It is a notification of a proposed concentration, not approval of a completed acquisition. The percentage stake, final valuation and investment disbursement timetable have not been established in the cited public announcement.

AI and Telemedicine at the Centre of Expansion
Founded around five years ago, ABA Life operates an integrated healthcare model spanning medical devices, connected infrastructure, telemedicine and healthcare delivery. The company says its work with public institutions and foundations has helped extend access to care, although independent operating metrics and detailed financial results were not disclosed alongside the deal.
The planned financing is intended to accelerate the AI for Sovereign Health programme, including its Mediot AI platform and clinical-intelligence tools. It will also support industrial-scale deployment of healthcare technologies and entry into markets beyond Morocco.
ABA Technology founder and chairman Mohamed Benouda has said the company plans to use investment to advance diagnostic and telemedicine applications, research and development, and international growth, including potential acquisitions. In a separate explanation of the strategy, he identified other African and emerging markets as potential destinations.
Admaius Seeks Growth Across African Healthcare
Admaius is a pan-African private equity manager headquartered in Kigali, with offices including Casablanca and Nairobi. Its investment interests span healthcare, digital infrastructure, financial services, consumer sectors and education.
The firm’s Morocco and West Africa head, Selim Ettriqui, highlighted ABA Life’s combination of devices, healthcare operations and locally developed technology. Managing partner Marlon Chigwende also pointed to the company’s operating model and prospects for international expansion.
For Admaius, the transaction offers exposure to a business that develops technology and participates directly in healthcare service delivery, rather than relying solely on software licensing. The adviser to ABA Life on the transaction has confirmed the investment mandate and identified industrialisation and overseas expansion as priorities.
What the Investment Means for Morocco’s Healthtech Sector
The deal illustrates growing investor interest in healthcare businesses combining digital tools with physical service infrastructure. Such models may be attractive where medical access is uneven, but scaling them requires regulatory approval, dependable clinical performance, data protection and capital-intensive operations.
ABA Life’s stated ambition is to become an internationally recognised healthtech company and, eventually, a Moroccan technology unicorn. That remains a goal rather than a confirmed valuation. The immediate milestone is regulatory clearance; only after the transaction closes can the announced investment be treated as completed funding.
