USDT0 has officially launched on the Stellar network, connecting the payments-focused blockchain to Tether’s global stablecoin liquidity through LayerZero’s interoperability infrastructure. The deployment gives Stellar users access to an asset linked to more than $180 billion of USDT market liquidity while expanding the network’s growing stablecoin, payments and tokenized-asset ecosystem.
Unlike a conventional wrapped version of USDT, USDT0 maintains a unified supply across supported blockchains. The system is designed to allow liquidity to move between networks without creating separate pools of wrapped assets, potentially reducing fragmentation for exchanges, payment providers and decentralized finance applications.
Key Overview
- USDT0 went live on Stellar on September 2, 2026, extending Tether-linked dollar liquidity to the network.
- The deployment uses LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token standard for cross-chain interoperability.
- Stellar participants gain access to an ecosystem built around more than $180 billion of USDT liquidity.
- Stellar recorded $5.5 billion in stablecoin payment volume during Q1 2026, up 72% year over year.
- Tokenized real-world assets on Stellar surpassed $2 billion shortly after Q1 ended.
- Initial USDT0 support includes Kraken, Freighter, Lobstr, Bitget, Fireblocks, Ramp Network and SushiSwap, among other platforms.
USDT0 Brings Unified Tether Liquidity to Stellar
The launch represents more than the addition of another dollar-denominated asset. USDT0 is an interoperability layer designed to extend USDT across multiple blockchain networks while preserving access to a common pool of liquidity.
The infrastructure is built using LayerZero’s OFT standard, which allows assets to move across connected blockchains without relying on conventional custodial bridges or creating multiple unrelated wrapped versions of the same token.
USDT0 is backed 1:1 by USDT on Ethereum, with tokens effectively moving between supported ecosystems through cross-chain minting and burning mechanisms. Its broader infrastructure has already processed more than $100 billion in lifetime transfers across LayerZero rails.
For Stellar, the integration introduces access to deeper dollar liquidity for payments, treasury management, trading and decentralized finance. It could also reduce the need for businesses to convert between different stablecoins when counterparties prefer USDT.
The network promotes sub-cent transaction costs and roughly five-second finality, features that position USDT0 particularly toward high-volume payment and settlement applications.

Stellar’s Stablecoin Economy Is Already Expanding
USDT0 arrives during a period of significant growth in Stellar’s payments infrastructure. The network reported that stablecoin payment volume reached $5.5 billion during the first quarter of 2026, representing a record and a 72% increase from the same period a year earlier.
Tokenized real-world assets on Stellar also crossed $2 billion shortly after the quarter ended, up from approximately $785 million at the end of 2025. That growth reflects Stellar’s strategy of developing infrastructure for both digital currencies and traditionally regulated financial assets.
The ecosystem already includes Circle’s USDC and Franklin Templeton’s tokenized Franklin OnChain U.S. Government Money Fund. The fund, represented by the BENJI token, had more than $650 million deployed on Stellar as of April 2026.
MoneyGram added another major stablecoin initiative in June when it launched MGUSD natively on Stellar. The dollar-denominated stablecoin is intended to support payments, settlement and financial services across MoneyGram’s global network.
Emerging Markets Could Be a Major Use Case
The combination of USDT and Stellar could be particularly relevant in emerging markets, where dollar-denominated stablecoins are increasingly used for cross-border transfers, savings and access to foreign currency.
Research on international stablecoin flows has found that USDT is particularly popular in emerging-market regions, including Africa and the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. Stablecoin activity relative to GDP has also been especially significant in Africa and Latin America, where international transfers appear to represent an important share of usage.
Nigeria illustrates that trend. Recent analysis found the country received around $59 billion in crypto-asset inflows between July 2023 and June 2024, while dollar stablecoins have increasingly been used by households and businesses for cross-border transfers and dollar exposure.
Stellar’s extensive network of fiat on-and-off ramps combined with USDT0’s liquidity could therefore give fintechs and payment providers another infrastructure option for moving digital dollars between markets.
More Wallet and Exchange Integrations Expected
USDT0 on Stellar launched with support from a broad group of infrastructure providers and applications. Initial integrations include Kraken, Freighter, Lobstr, Meru, Bitget, Fireblocks, BiLira Kripto, Kredete, Ramp Network and SushiSwap, with Exodus expected to follow.
The immediate impact will depend on how quickly exchanges, wallets, payment companies and DeFi protocols integrate USDT0 into their services. Nevertheless, the deployment strengthens Stellar’s position at the intersection of stablecoins, cross-border payments and tokenized financial assets while giving USDT users another blockchain network through which to move and deploy dollar-denominated liquidity.
