The Korean Exim Bank has finalized agreements with the Kenyan government, committing over KShs. 30 billion to the development of Konza Technopolis. The investment, announced during the Korea-Africa summit in Seoul, will primarily finance the construction of a Digital Media City within Konza, spanning 160 acres.

This initiative aims to bolster Kenya’s digital economy by providing essential infrastructure for music production, post-production facilities, media training centers, and film studios. Dr. Abraham Sing’oei, Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the project’s potential to showcase Kenyan talent on a global scale.

Feasibility studies for the Digital Media City were concluded in January 2023, ensuring its viability and estimating costs. Despite previous challenges, Konza Technopolis is poised for revitalization with support from South Korea, evidenced by collaborative projects such as the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

With South Korea’s investment, Konza City is primed to emerge as a hub for technological innovation in Africa, fostering economic growth and driving Kenya’s digital transformation.
