SpaceX (NASDAQ: SPCX) reported $14.6 billion in third-quarter 2026 revenue, up 161% from a year earlier, as its artificial intelligence business overtook satellite connectivity as the company’s biggest revenue contributor. The October 20 financial results also showed a $4.4 billion quarterly net profit, compared with a loss of roughly $1.1 billion a year earlier.
The earnings highlight SpaceX’s growing dependence on AI infrastructure and software alongside Starlink and rocket launches. The company also reported $1.573 billion in digital assets, although its latest earnings release did not confirm a new Bitcoin coin count.
Key Overview
- Revenue: $14.6 billion, up 161% year over year, with net income of $4.4 billion.
- AI leads sales: Super Intelligence generated $7.56 billion, exceeding Connectivity revenue of $5.25 billion.
- Starlink growth: Consumer subscribers reached 13.6 million, supporting 69% annual Connectivity revenue growth.
- Bitcoin exposure: Digital assets were valued at $1.573 billion on September 30; an earlier filing identified 18,712 BTC.
- Expansion spending: Quarterly capital expenditures reached $19.6 billion, including $16.4 billion for AI.
AI Becomes SpaceX’s Largest Revenue Business
SpaceX’s Super Intelligence division, which includes Grok, AI cloud infrastructure and Cursor, generated $7.56 billion in quarterly sales, an 830% increase from $813 million a year earlier. The division delivered $431 million in operating income, reversing a $1.72 billion operating loss in the comparable 2025 quarter.
The growth followed stronger cloud-services demand and the August acquisition of Cursor, which contributed $608 million in revenue from its August 14 closing through September 30. AI computing capacity expanded to 1.7 gigawatts of nameplate power.
However, being the largest division by revenue does not make AI the most profitable. Connectivity generated $2.37 billion in operating income, substantially more than the AI segment’s $431 million.

Starlink and Starship Continue to Expand
Connectivity revenue increased 69% to $5.25 billion as Starlink’s consumer subscriber base reached 13.6 million, up from 7.2 million a year earlier. Government and enterprise services also contributed to growth.
Traditional space operations generated $1.77 billion in revenue, up about 6% annually, but recorded a $7 million operating loss. SpaceX also completed its first revenue-generating Starship mission, placing 26 next-generation Starlink satellites into orbit, according to its launch and segment disclosures.
What the Filings Actually Show About Bitcoin
The September 30 balance sheet recorded $1.573 billion in digital assets, compared with $1.637 billion at the end of 2025. The nine-month cash-flow statement included a $64 million unrealized loss on digital assets.
In its June 2026 quarterly filing, SpaceX disclosed 18,712 Bitcoin with a $661 million cost basis. The newly released third-quarter earnings materials did not restate the number of coins held. The valuation is consistent with a substantial Bitcoin position, but it should not be treated as explicit confirmation that the holdings remained exactly unchanged through September.
Investment Spending Rises Despite Strong Liquidity
Capital expenditure totaled $19.59 billion in the quarter, with $16.44 billion directed to Super Intelligence. Adjusted EBITDA, a non-GAAP profitability measure, rose 306% to $8.81 billion, while diluted earnings reached $0.35 per share.
SpaceX ended September with $51.29 billion in cash and cash equivalents and $38.56 billion in marketable securities, totaling approximately $89.86 billion. That liquidity position also reflects financing activity, including the company’s June public offering, rather than quarterly earnings alone.
The results strengthen SpaceX’s position as an AI infrastructure provider while highlighting the cost of rapid expansion. For investors, the key questions are whether AI profitability can keep improving, whether Starlink sustains its growth and how the company manages future investment needs.
