BikeWo Expands Beyond EV Sales

BikeWo Green Tech is broadening its electric mobility business beyond EV sales and distribution through its new BikeWo Ascend initiative.

The strategy is designed around fleet deployment, EV asset ownership, specialised mobility solutions, operating partnerships and lifecycle support. Through the initiative, the company is developing a broader role across the electric mobility value chain.

Rather than focusing primarily on selling and distributing electric vehicles, BikeWo is expanding into how EV assets are deployed, operated and supported throughout their lifecycle.

The company’s strategy covers last-mile, mid-mile and specialised mobility applications, creating a broader operating model for commercial electric vehicle deployment.

BikeWo is targeting an operating fleet of around 10,000 vehicles during FY27 as it expands into fleet ownership, leasing and technology-enabled mobility operations.

According to the company, the expansion is being funded through a preferential issue of warrants worth more than ₹76 crore.

The company has described the move as a new phase of its business under the BikeWo Ascend initiative.

The expansion marks a shift from electric vehicle sales and distribution towards fleet ownership and leasing, specialised mobility applications, operating partnerships, lifecycle support and technology-enabled logistics.

Hiten Pal Saklani, Chief Executive Officer of BikeWo Green Tech Limited, said:

“For us, BikeWo Ascend is about building a much larger business around electric mobility. We started with vehicles, but we see a significantly bigger opportunity in the infrastructure, operations and technology that enable those vehicles to deliver value.”

He added that the company’s engagement in the bio-energy sector demonstrates how specialised electric mobility can find applications beyond conventional transportation.

Reliance Partnership Adds Specialised Electric Tractors

An early milestone under BikeWo Ascend is BikeWo’s engagement with Reliance Industries’ Bio Energy Division to hire and deploy specialised electric tractors.

The contracts have an estimated aggregate value of ₹66.46 crore, with contractual validity extending until July 2033.

The electric tractors will be deployed for specialised applications involving loaders, catchers and grabbers, together with associated driver and vehicle operation services.

The deployment extends electric mobility into bio-energy and biomass-handling operations, taking the application of EVs beyond conventional passenger and goods transportation.

BikeWo said the contracts represent an example of the specialised applications that can be supported through its expanded electric mobility business model.

Building a Broader EV Operating Model

The BikeWo Ascend initiative brings together several elements of the electric mobility ecosystem, including vehicle assets, leasing, operations and technology-enabled logistics.

The company plans to connect vehicle ownership and leasing with deployment, operating partnerships and lifecycle support as it scales its fleet across different mobility applications.

This model gives BikeWo a broader role than vehicle sales and distribution, with the company developing capabilities around the deployment and operation of electric vehicles for commercial and specialised uses.

The strategy also reflects BikeWo’s focus on partnerships across the EV, logistics, energy and technology sectors.

Last-Mile, Mid-Mile and Specialised Mobility

BikeWo’s expanded strategy covers multiple commercial mobility applications.

In last-mile mobility, the company can deploy electric vehicles for operations requiring frequent and relatively short-distance movement. The mid-mile segment provides another application for fleet-based electric mobility.

The company is also focusing on specialised mobility, where electric vehicles can be adapted for specific operational requirements.

The specialised electric tractors being deployed through the Reliance Industries Bio Energy Division engagement provide an example of this approach. Their loader, catcher and grabber applications demonstrate the use of electric mobility in bio-energy and biomass-handling activities.

Focus on Recurring Operations and Lifecycle Support

BikeWo said the multi-brand EV retail model is losing momentum while demand for EV logistics and institutional fleet solutions is growing significantly.

The company is therefore moving towards fleet ownership, leasing and operations, with the aim of creating greater scope to scale and build a more recurring revenue base.

The approach places greater emphasis on the operational side of electric mobility, including fleet deployment, vehicle operations and lifecycle support.

As the company expands its fleet, these capabilities are expected to form part of its broader operating model across different mobility applications.

Outlook

BikeWo’s BikeWo Ascend initiative represents the company’s expansion from EV sales and distribution into fleet ownership, leasing, specialised mobility and technology-enabled operations.

The company is targeting about 10,000 operating vehicles in FY27, while its Reliance Industries Bio Energy Division contracts provide an early application of its specialised EV strategy.

With the contracts valued at approximately ₹66.46 crore and valid through July 2033, BikeWo is expanding its electric mobility activities into bio-energy and biomass handling.

The company also plans to build partnerships across EV, logistics, energy and technology sectors while combining vehicle assets, leasing, operating partnerships and lifecycle support as it develops its broader mobility business.
