Verona Launches verUSD for AI Agent Payments

Verona has launched verUSD, a U.S. dollar-denominated stablecoin designed for payments carried out by AI agents.

According to The Paypers, verUSD is intended to pay for verified data and settle transactions carried out by AI agents on the Verona network.

The launch comes with more than USD 100 million in launch commitments from partners including Animoca Ventures, Figment Capital, Sfermion, Pentos, Ero and Arkstream.

The launch took place during Korea Blockchain Week in Seoul.

More Than $100 Million in Commitments

The $100 million figure is made up of different types of commitments.

More than $60 million in signed, committed revenue is set to flow through verUSD as payments.

The remaining commitments come from capital commitments made by partners across the Verona ecosystem.

CryptoRank reported that the $100 million includes more than $60 million of signed contracted revenue, while the rest consists of capital pledged by ecosystem partners.

The distinction means the commitment figure represents expected payment flows and partner capital commitments rather than an announced amount of verUSD already in circulation.

verUSD Launches Across Seven Blockchains

Infographic showing verUSD launching across seven blockchains—Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, Optimism, Arbitrum, Celo and Solana—for AI-agent payments and settlement.

The stablecoin launched natively across seven blockchains from day one.

These include Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, Optimism, Arbitrum, Celo and Solana.

Verona plans to add further blockchain integrations in the weeks following the launch.

KuCoin also reported that verUSD is designed to enable on-chain payments and settlements within the AI and crypto ecosystem.

This multichain approach gives the stablecoin access to several blockchain environments as Verona develops its AI-agent payment infrastructure.

Backed 1:1 by U.S. Dollar Reserves

verUSD is issued through Brale and is described as a fully reserved dollar stablecoin.

The token is backed 1:1 by USD reserves held with regulated financial institutions in the US, with holders able to redeem through Verona.

CryptoRank similarly reported that verUSD is issued through Brale and backed one-to-one by dollar reserves held at regulated US financial institutions.

The reserve structure is intended to support the stablecoin’s dollar denomination while it is used for AI-agent transactions.

Built for AI Agent Transactions

Verona is positioning verUSD around payments between AI agents rather than traditional consumer payments.

The token is designed to allow AI agents to pay for verified data and settle transactions on the network.

According to The Paypers, Verona’s network cryptographically verifies data at the source while maintaining privacy, giving AI agents access to sensitive real-world information needed to act.

The company says its technology supports experiences across more than 115 brands and has recorded more than 70 million verified interactions across more than five million users.

Moving From USDC to verUSD

Verona says its ecosystem has already used USDC for payments.

According to the company’s launch information, it has settled payments in USDC for four years across projects building on its infrastructure.

The launch of verUSD gives those teams another payment and settlement option within the Verona ecosystem.

The company says switching to verUSD is quick and simple for teams already using its infrastructure, allowing the stablecoin to launch with existing payment activity rather than starting entirely from zero.

Institutional and Ecosystem Support

The launch has attracted commitments from several institutional and ecosystem participants.

The named partners include Animoca Ventures, Figment Capital, Sfermion, Pentos, Ero and Arkstream.

KuCoin reported that verUSD has secured over $100 million in institutional adoption from firms including Animoca Ventures, Figment Capital, Sfermion, Pentos Ventures and ArkStream.

OneBULLEx also described the launch as taking place during Korea Blockchain Week, with $100 million in backing.

The institutional commitments provide initial support as Verona develops verUSD’s role within AI-agent payments and settlement.

A New Payment Layer for AI Agents

The launch reflects Verona’s effort to combine data verification and payments within the same infrastructure.

Rather than relying solely on a third-party stablecoin, Verona is introducing its own dollar-denominated settlement asset for transactions carried out by AI agents.

James Ho, Head of Animoca Ventures, described verUSD as “a fully reserved dollar stablecoin native to Verona, used to pay for verified data and settle agent transactions”.

This positions verUSD around automated transactions involving verified data and other services within the Verona ecosystem.

Outlook

Verona’s launch of verUSD brings a dollar-denominated stablecoin specifically into the emerging market for AI-agent payments.

With more than $100 million in launch commitments, more than $60 million in signed, committed revenue and availability across seven blockchains, the project is entering the market with existing ecosystem commitments and payment infrastructure.

The next stage will involve expanding blockchain integrations and developing the use of verUSD for AI-agent payments, verified data and transaction settlement.
