President Ruto Unveils Plan to Generate 3,000-5,000 Jobs Weekly for Kenyan Workers Abroad

In a recent church service in Sotik, Bomet County, President William Ruto outlined a strategy to address Kenya’s unemployment issues. The core of this initiative is to secure 3,000 to 5,000 jobs weekly for Kenyan citizens seeking employment abroad.

President Ruto expressed the government’s commitment to new bilateral agreements to export the nation’s workforce. “We will sign bilateral labor agreements to export labor from Kenya. Our goal is to send 3,000 to 5,000 Kenyans abroad every week,” he emphasized.

Ongoing talks with foreign countries, including Saudi Arabia, Germany, and France, aim to create additional overseas employment options for Kenyan citizens. Recent diplomatic visits to Saudi Arabia and an upcoming trip to Germany are part of these efforts, with Ruto aiming to fulfill a commitment made by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz for 200,000 jobs during his visit to Kenya.

Responding to criticisms regarding the frequency of his foreign trips, Ruto defended his engagements, emphasizing the potential benefits for the nation. On the economic front, he asserted, “Kenya has stagnated for many years due to leaders focusing on re-election. My focus is not on being re-elected; it’s on transforming the country.”

Despite facing scrutiny for imposing additional taxes on citizens in recent months, President Ruto remains steadfast in his commitment to steering the nation toward economic growth and job creation. The plan to export jobs represents a strategic move to reshape Kenya’s economic landscape and provide new global opportunities for its citizens, marking a significant step in addressing the country’s unemployment challenges.
