Malindi Hosts Diaspora Investors for Green City Development

Malindi, a coastal gem in Kenya, is at the forefront of hosting a significant gathering of over 400 Kenyan investors from the Diaspora. Their mission? To spearhead the development of Africa’s first green city in the serene landscapes of Magarini sub county, Kilifi county.

Under the stewardship of Prof Lucas Njenga, CEO of Proximity Point Group, discussions are underway to materialize the ambitious Proximity City of Returns. This groundbreaking project aims to harmonize agricultural, industrial, and leisure sectors across a sprawling landscape, with negotiations for over 40,000 acres in Magarini nearing completion.

Guiding the discourse is Doug McCollough, CEO of Colour Coded Labs, an authority in city development. Against the backdrop of Malindi’s coastal allure, McCollough and fellow experts convene to explore modern urbanism and sustainable practices, setting the stage for a smarter, more resilient future.

Central to the agenda is the integration of technology and eco-conscious principles, with McCollough’s insights shaping the trajectory of both Malindi and the Proximity City of Returns. Prof Njenga’s vision extends beyond infrastructure; it encompasses specialized zones catering to diverse needs, from manufacturing to education and healthcare.

Malindi’s strategic location and accessibility via Malindi International Airport make it an enticing investment hub. Delegates are eager to explore opportunities in tourism and agriculture, underpinned by a commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Maryanne Geotz, Director of Animal Conservancy at Proximity Point Group, highlights attendees’ enthusiasm for insights into smart city development. As the conference unfolds, Malindi emerges as a catalyst for progress, ushering in a new era of prosperity along the East African coast.
