Homa Bay County is gearing up for a transformative economic endeavor with the imminent development of the Riwa Special Economic Zone in Rachuonyo North Sub County. Governor Gladys Wanga unveiled the county’s meticulous master plan, which is nearing implementation following a crucial topographical survey.

Spanning 532 acres, the industrial park is set to emerge as a pivotal hub for various industries, bolstered by strategic partnerships with key agencies such as the Kenya Revenue Authority, Special Economic Zone Authority, National Land Commission, and the National Environment Management Authority.

Governor Wanga underscored the zone’s strategic importance, emphasizing Homa Bay’s pioneering role in western Kenya’s economic landscape. During a recent site visit, she highlighted the county’s commitment to fostering a conducive business environment.

Infrastructure developments, including reliable electricity supply by Kenya Power, are integral to enhancing connectivity within the park. Concurrently, the county government is focused on road enhancements outlined in the comprehensive master plan designed to attract both local and international investors.

Investors in the Riwa Economic Zone will enjoy various incentives, including tax benefits and access to land for development at no cost. Governor Wanga noted successful partnership agreements inked during the international investment conference, underscoring growing investor confidence in the region’s potential.

Polycap Okombo, County Trade and Investment Executive Committee Member, confirmed progress with Victory Farms already establishing its presence within the economic zone. As preparations accelerate with the National Youth Service constructing flood-control dykes, the zone is poised to welcome additional enterprises shortly.

With a clear vision and collaborative efforts from public and private sectors alike, Homa Bay County is setting benchmarks for sustainable economic growth through the Riwa Special Economic Zone. As the zone progresses, it promises not only to stimulate industrial activity but also to generate substantial employment opportunities for local communities.

As Homa Bay County navigates the next phase of its economic transformation journey, it is poised to redefine regional development and investment appeal.
