Inflation, a higher cost of living and debt were the top causes that workers across all groups cited as contributors to their low financial health. Among MetLife’s findings:Nearly half (48%) of the employees surveyed by MetLife cited financial concerns—up from 31%in 2022—as the cause of their poorer mental health. Mental health challenges like stress, anxiety, and depression can lead to burnout, absenteeism, and decreased overall work performance. Conversely, when employees feel mentally well, they tend to exhibit higher levels of engagement, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. As per a report by Manulife Financial Wellness Study 2016, 93% of employees agree that financial wellness and employee productivity are positively correlated.
Creativity and critical thinking are top of most lists of skills crucial for success in the 21st century. They rank second and third on the World Economic Forum’s top ten list of skills employees will need to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
